"body_md": "The Fairbanks North Star Borough is considering an ordinance that would rename Pioneer Park back to Alaskaland, a change that would cost about $50,000 and undo a rebrand made years ago.\n\nMany Fairbanks residents never stopped calling the park Alaskaland, even after it was renamed Pioneer Park. Others say the Pioneer Park name was meant to better reflect cultural sensitivity and Native representation, and they question reversing that change.\n\nThe debate is not about the rides or buildings inside the park. It is about what the park's name represents and who feels seen by it. Supporters of reverting to Alaskaland say the old name never stuck with residents and the money could restore a familiar landmark brand. Opponents question spending public funds on the change and worry about the message a reversal would send.\n\nThe ordinance puts tradition, cost, and community values into direct conflict as the borough decides how to present one of its most recognizable landmarks to locals and visitors across Interior Alaska.",
