"body_md": "Two Boys and Girls Clubs programs in Anchorage shut down abruptly on December 24, leaving more than 100 children without childcare and resulting in 136 staff layoffs just days before Christmas.\n\nParents found out with little warning, scrambling during one of the hardest weeks of the year to find alternative care in a city where childcare spots were already tight.\n\nThe closures were tied to serious financial strain, not a temporary pause. For working families, especially those with limited options, the timing couldn't have been worse, and the sudden loss of two programs instantly widened an already strained childcare gap.\n\nThis wasn't just a program ending. It was a safety net disappearing with no backup ready for the families who depended on it.",
