"body_md": "Former Alaska state Senator Natasha von Imhof filed this week to run for Anchorage mayor in the April 2027 election. Von Imhof is an Anchorage native who spent six years in the Alaska Senate co-chairing the Finance Committee and overseeing the state budget. She also served on the Anchorage School Board before heading to Juneau and has sat on the Rasmuson Foundation board for over 20 years.\n\nFor Anchorage residents, her entry raises the profile of a race centered on how the city spends its money. Public safety, housing and infrastructure are the recurring issues voters and officials revisit every budget cycle, and von Imhof's background overseeing the state budget puts her financial record at the center of her candidacy.\n\nVon Imhof's resume spans both state and local government. Her time on the Anchorage School Board gave her local governance experience before she moved to the state Legislature, where she co-chaired the Senate Finance Committee and also chaired Legislative Budget and Audit. She has remained on the board of the Rasmuson Foundation, one of the most influential civic organizations in Alaska, for more than two decades.\n\nThe April 2027 municipal election is still more than a year away. More candidates are expected to enter the Anchorage mayor's race before then.",
