"body_md": "Anchorage city officials broke ground on a 5 million dollar reconstruction of Town Square Park on West Fifth Avenue, next to the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, this spring. The project follows a design first laid out in 2019 and includes better sight lines, significantly more lighting, two new stages, and a dedicated market area for vendors and events.\n\nAbout 2.8 million dollars of the project is funded through voter-approved bonds, with the remainder coming from donations raised through the Anchorage Park Foundation. The foundation is still working to raise the final million dollars needed, and the Rasmuson Foundation has pledged to match up to half a million dollars in community donations.\n\nThe park is closed during construction. As a result, the popular Live After 5 summer concert series, normally held in Town Square Park, has moved one block over to F Street for the duration of the work.\n\nThe rebuilt park is expected to serve downtown workers, families, and visitors who rely on the space for summer events in the heart of Anchorage.",
